Selena
She broke through the barriers of the music industry as a singer, performer as well as a designer. She was an Mexican American singer that was modern and traditional. She united both worlds and brought Tejano music into mainstream culture. Like many times with a bright and charming star dies far too early the tragic loss of her life caused her to lose the popularity she had been gaining. Many mourned all of the potential that was not fully realized. The result is that fans are enthused over through the years to dig and work harder to make sure her accomplishments will not be forgotten. Selena's shooting death sparked emotion in Latino society that could be likened in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. An enormously popular singer within Latino communities throughout North America her music crossed borders of culture to impact the lives of young and old alike. Selena was a hot and glamorous stage performer who is sometimes referred to as Latina Madonna, was also an actress offstage. Selena was also active in anti-drug initiatives.
